Aikido is a powerful method of self-defense that can be studied by people of all ages. It is a non-competitive martial art that teaches a student to understand, recognize and to act when faced with a harmful situation. Our non-resistive techniques are ideal for those who are generally not as aggressive or strong as an attacker.
Our purpose is to instill self-confidence and provide an understanding of violence by creating solutions to less desirable situations rather than contributing to them. We teach awareness that would lead a child to flee a stranger or avoid a kidnapping (stranger danger). Our students are taught an overall understanding of basic body mechanics, human behaviors and are provided the means to defend themselves during conflict.
Women & Children ages 7-45
This program is designed to enhance awareness. It will provide an added sense of self-confidence and significantly reduce the chance to fall victim to stranger attacks
Seasoned Citizens ages 45+
This program is designed for the lay person to learn life-saving, self-defense techniques. The program also helps increase flexibility, self-confidence, motor skills and relaxation. We will periodically join this group with other classes in order to facilitate a higher degree of respect and compassion for individuals less fortunate in order to increase confidence in those who struggle with day-to-day functions more of us take for granted.
Law Enforcement / Advanced Training
This program is designed to teach open-hand techniques for defense against attacks in which the offender chooses to use a weapon, including suspect apprehension and weapon securement. Statistics show that 60% of assaults on law enforcement are committed with their own weapon. In today’s society, it’s easy to lose sight of what is occurring in the moment based on what we think is present instead of what is actually happening. We work and encourage members to mentally process situations through calmness rather than fear, resulting in swift and mindful decisions in very dangerous situations.
Business Professionals
This program offers an environment to relieve stress while engaging in a powerful self-defense system called Aiki Yoga. While it is non-competitive, this program provides a vehicle that embodies principals that promote physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Others who will benefit from this program include:
Sensei Mikhail Mon'ey
While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Sensei Mon'ey had the privilege of serving on a team of professionals trained for independent operations (Special Ops) which included executive protection, advanced hostage rescue, and other skills of interest to complete assigned objectives.
In 1994, he became an Aikido instructor, guided by chief instructor Larry Reynosa, President of Makoto Aikido Kyokai located in Ventura, California. As he became more advanced and effective, opportunities presented themselves that allowed him to provide security for Patrick Buchanan during his presidential bid as well as for Kenneth Hulshof of Missouri during his Congressional race in 1996. To his credit, Sensei Mon'ey has protected Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Rush, Alanis Morissette, Ice T, and Naughty by Nature among others.

"I found the experience training with Mr. Mon'ey to be fulfilling, both physically and mentally. Aikido is a fantastic and fun way to not only get exercise and protect yourself, but also to help bring balance to an otherwise hectic World. So while helping to keep yourself and your loved ones a little more prepared for the unexpected "bad elements" in life, you will also be helping to bring yourselves that much closer to a more peaceful and harmonious life. I believe that any one can benefit from these teachings. I know I have." C. Spurgeon
"As Vice President of the Federation of Republican Women I was very pleased with the training and services we received from Mikhail. He is patient and helpful, courteous and friendly. He does a great job teaching and enjoys the reward of seeing his students excel." Lisa Garver
"Mikhail has a sincere interest in helping individuals (i.e. young women, etc.) understand how to defend themselves from potentially harmful situations. Many of us could benefit greatly from learning several of his techniques for how to disarm an attacker. I'd like my daughters to learn." Maria Johnson
"At first glance I thought that Aikido would be too technical for someone that doesn't work out very often. I soon found out that even though the moves are indeed technical, the more you practice, the more natural the moves become. I enjoy Aikido in that men or women of all ages and statures can learn the moves because it requires very little force on your part. Since Aikido bases it's moves on the force that your opponent uses and your own physical strength. The experience I had was unexpected, being that the tactics that I learned had a simplistic effectiveness that would allow me to disable any opponent. The way the moves flow together in a practical manner make it possible for anyone to assimilate themselves into the program within very little time. I would recommend to Mr. Mon'ey's class to anyone." Christina Cook
